The 5th cultural festival of ethnic minorities in Viet Nam’s northeast will take place in Ha Giang Province on August 20-22. The festival will be attended by more than 2,000 performers and artists from 10 provinces - Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Bac Kan, Cao Bang, Lang Son, Quang Ninh, Bac Giang, Phu Tho and Vinh Phuc – as well as foreign artists.

The opening ceremony with a parade themed “Culture is Society’s Spiritual Foundation”, and concerts and performances named “Ha Giang in her Friend’s Arms” will be held at the C10 Stadium in Ha Giang town on the evening of August 20 and broadcast live on Channel VTV1 and the Voice of Viet Nam (VOV).
For the three days of the event, there will be a display of ethnic costume, a folk fair, local food and drink, and various interesting activities.
Located at the top of Viet Nam, mountainous Ha Giang is bordered by Cao Bang, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai and Yen Bai and shares a border with China.
Many ethnic minorities, including the Dao, H’mong, Tay and Nung, live in Ha Giang.
Its economic potential lies in cattle breeding, agriculture and forestry, but Ha Giang is attempting to develop manufacturing and improve its infrastructure.
