Activities respond to Vietnam Book Day

A range of activities are being held in Ho Chi Minh City to respond to the 6th Vietnam Book Day.

A week promoting reading culture among young people takes place in Ho Chi Minh City Book Street from April 19-27. Visitors will have a chance to learn about best inspirational books, children books and literary works on the Liberation of South and national reunification that are being displayed at the event.
Meanwhile the “Reading Day” opens on April 20-25 at the General Sciences Library of Ho Chi Minh City. The event also includes an exhibition of good and valuable books, latest titles, and award-wining books.
The “Children's Book Day” will be organized at the Vietnamese Language Studies Saigon (VLS), 45 Dinh Tien Hoang street in district 1 on April 21.
Additionally, Ho Chi Minh City Book Distribution Corporation-FAHASA will a book fair titled “Book-Culture and Development” in the central coastal city of Da Nang on April 21. The event attracts 57 local and foreign publishing houses with more than 200 display stalls.
Vietnam Book Day was approved in 2014 and is scheduled to occur every year on April 21. The day aims to encourage and promote reading habit in the community and raise awareness of using books as a tool for critical thinking. It also celebrates appreciation for readers, writers, publishers, distributors, and other affiliates of the publishing industry.
