Annual festival marks Japan-Hoi An relationship

The 15th Japan-Hoi An Cultural Exchange Festival opened in the ancient town of Hoi An in the central province of Quang Nam on August 18-20.

The event marking 15 years of cooperation between Hoi An and Japan included various cultural activities, such as Japanese and Vietnamese folk games; seminars; and music and art performances, traditional martial arts performances; traditional costumes and cosplay shows and more.
One of the highlights of the event was the reappearance of the wedding procession of Princess Ngoc Hoa and Japanese trader Araki Sotaro which marched around the ancient town to commemorate Princess Ngoc Hoa who helped build the relationship between Vietnam and Japan.
Launched in 2003, the Japanese festival in Hoi An marks the friendship between the two countries and the great relationship between Hoi An and Japan in particular for the last 400 years.
