Binh Thuan to host first ‘Vietnam Int’l Hot Air Balloon Fiesta’

The first ‘Vietnam International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta’- VIHABF 2012 will be held in the coastal province of Binh Thuan from August 29-September 3.

The event aims to celebrate the 67th anniversary of Vietnam National Day (September 2) and the 20th anniversary of the re-establishment of the Province (1992).

The festival will feature 30 colorful hot air balloon displays in different shapes and sizes performed by 50 international balloonists from the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Germany, the UK, the US, India, China, Hong Kong (China), Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam.

The balloons will fly at a height of 200-500 meters with speed limit of 28km per hour for a distance from 13-25 km.

Khairudin Abdul Rani, Chairman of the 4th Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta in Malaysia, Dutch balloonist Wouter Cornelis Bakker with more than 2,000 flying hours and experts from Cameron Balloons Ltd., the world's largest, most experienced and popular manufacturer of hot-air balloons, are invited to the event to assist and consult in flying technology.

In addition, many side-activities such as performances of kite flying and parachutes, and art shows will take place during the festival.

A photography contest and exhibition themed ‘Binh Thuan- Sunshine and Blue Sea’ will be held on from August 26 – September 3.
