Central Highland hero's ex-wife conferred title of ‘Folk Artist’

H'Ben, former wife of Central Highland hero Nup, was conferred the title of ‘Folk Artist’ by the Vietnam Folk Cultural Association and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Gia Lai Province.

H'Ben has been honored for her contribution in the field of folk music. She belongs to the Ba Na ethnic minority group from Kong Chro District in Gia Lai Province.

She has held the position of head of Cultural and Artistic Groups in the Central Highlands, as well as Principal of Highland Culture and Arts University. She has also performed in 10 countries around the world.

H’Ben is the third person of the Ba Na ethnic group to receive the title of ‘Folk Artist’. Earlier, two artists of the Ba Na ethnic group, namely, Dinh Tan and Dinh Poh had received the award.

Although H’Ben has since retired, she continues to teach folk music to Ba Na students.
