CNN’s ‘Destination Hanoi’ promotes capital’s beauty

A program promoting sights and culture of Hanoi will be broadcast on the US Cable News Network (CNN).

The 30-minute video titled “Destination Hanoi” will introduce beautiful streets, alleys of the Old Quarter and famous tourist spots in the capital, such as Thanh Chuong Viet Palace, Ho Tay (West Lake), Cu Da Vermicelli Village
The program also presents the Quintessence of Tonkin, an open-air spectacle, combining water puppetry, a light show and a broad review of Vietnamese culture, including poetry, Buddhism, and folklore; and the Mother Goddess Worship which is recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
According ot CNN’s introduction, Hanoi has fiercely defended its identity for more than a millennium, despite successive waves of Chinese, French, Japanese and American influence. Today, in a time of peace, Hanoi continues its charm offensive, luring visitors with its tree-lined boulevards and old-Asian allure.
The program will be aired at 12.40 a.m on June 17; 7.10 p.m on June 17; 10.40 a.m on June 18; and 5.40 p.m on June 20 and 5.40 on June 28.
