Among them were nearly 50,000 international tourists who came to enjoy the biggest year-end cultural event in the country.

The festival, which is held every two years, introduced to visitors many diverse activities such as musical and fashion shows, trade and cuisine fairs, the Miss EthnicViet Nam 2007- the first beauty pageant for women from different ethnic groups throughout the country - and a mass wedding ceremony entitled “Journey to Happiness”.

The wedding attracted 114 Vietnamese and foreign couples in order to mark the 114th birthday of Da Lat, a tourist town in the Vietnamese Central Highlands well known as a symbol of love and romance.
Some of the event highlights that attracted a great number of people were the flower parade, the International Flower Exhibition, the gathering of Vietnamese record holders, and a champagne and tea festival, said Mr. Nguyen Vu Hoang, Director of the Tourism and Cultural Festival Center of Lam Dong Province.

More than VND250 million (US$15,400) was raised from an auction of valuable and rare ornamental trees and flowers and is to be donated to the local poor.
