Dien Bien Phu remembered

The south central coastal province of Binh Dinh officially opened a photo exhibition, “Dien Bien Phu – Ban hung ca” (Dien Bien Phu – Epic), at Buon Ma Thuoc City’s Culture Center in the Central Highlands’ Province of Dak Lak May 1.

This is one of many events being held to commemorate the 55th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954).
On display are 200 photos documenting unforgettable events of Dien Bien Phu, including the battles at A1 Hill and Him Lam Hill.
Many of the photos also show the feelings between the soldiers and locals, as well as the emotions on the last day of battle.  
The exhibition will remain open until May 25.
The Battle of Dien Bien Phu took over two months, leading to a heavy French defeat that helped end the war.
