Do Quyen Flower Festival comes to Sapa

The Do Quyen (water-rail) Flower Festival 2017 will be organized in Sapa Town in the northern province of Lao Cai from March 31 to April 9.

The Do Quyen (water-rail) Flower Festival 2017 will be organized in Sapa Town in the northern province of Lao Cai from March 31 to April 9.

 Do Quyen flower grows in abundance on and around Fansipan, a mountain in northern Vietnam’s Lao Cai Province, which is 9 km southwest of Sa Pa resort town in the Hoang Lien Son mountain range. Flowers in red, pink, yellow and white, blooms all year around, but the flower’s charms is at its peak around April each year.

The province’s Hoang Lien National Park is considered as the kingdom of Do Quyen with over 40 species of flowers.
The first-ever event aims to promote the beauty of a typical flower in Hoang Lien Son mountain.

The festival will also include many traditional folk games like walking on stilts, con throwing and nhay sap (dancing with bamboo poles), ethnic minority music performances and mountainous markets.
