France Honors Vietnamese Artist

French ambassador Jean-Francois Blarel yesterday pinned a Literature and Art Medal on People’s Artist Nguyen Cong Nhac, director of the Viet Nam Opera and Ballet Theater, for his contributions to contemporary dance in Viet Nam.

As a choreographer of distinction, Nguyen Cong Nhac has vigorously supported Vietnamese contemporary dance art, partly through his work with French choreographers Régine Chopinot and Ea Sola.
The French medal, first bestowed in 1957, is given to people who have made a significant contribution to literature and art. Its recipients include leading writers and academics.
