The city will host a series of economic events, sports and cultural activities to promote interest in France from April 6 to 11.
“France Week” is an opportunity to learn more about the land, natural beauty and daily life of the French people, thereby enhancing mutual understanding, friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
The events will create opportunities for artists and cultural workers in the two countries to exchange experiences, as well as preserve and develop the cultural identities of both countries.
Audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy a photo exhibition and a dance performance. A friendly charity match will be held in Thong Nhat Stadium on April 8 featuring French ex-footballers Amoros, Rocheteau, and Karembeu. These athletes won the 1998 World Cup and the 2000 Euro titles. They will play against former Viet Nam national team members Le Huynh Duc, Tran Cong Minh, and Hong Son. Junior footballers SCAVI Rocheteau Viet Nam will play against the Espoir club, a team representing Clairefontaine, France’s football training center.
All proceeds will be donated to Vietnamese orphans, said Mr. Jacques Rostaing, honorary president of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as chairman of the week’s organizing board.
The highlight of the week is a gala dinner with French food and cuisine at in the White Palace on April 9. Chefs Henri Charvet and Gérard Royan from the Euro-Toques, an organization of European chefs who work in various nations, will join hands with Vietnamese chefs Didier Corlou, Sakhal Phuong and Gérard Taurin to present typical French dishes.
A fashion show will present the clothes of French fashion designer On Aura Tout Vu, as will those of Vietnamese designers. Top international and Vietnamese will be used. In addition, French singer Lidia Martinez as well as choreographer and dancer Dominique Boivin will perform romantic songs.
