Famous French singer Patricia Kaas will perform at Ho Chi Minh City’s Ben Thanh Theater for charity on May 14.
The city was originally not on her global “KAAS chante Piaf” (KAAS sings Piaf) tour to commemorate the 50th death anniversary of famous French singer Édith Piaf, but she changed her mind and agreed to perform here to support street children.
Kaas visited Vietnam in 1994 and performed in Hanoi and HCMC.
The singer, considered the musical heir to national diva Piaf, will sing some of her popular songs like “La vie en rose,” “L’hymne à l’amour,” “Non, je ne regrette rien,” “La Belle histoire,” “Avec ce soleil,” and “T’es beau tu sais.”
Kaas is a very successful singer with an international following. Stylistically her music is a mixture of pop, cabaret, jazz, and chanson.
The concert is being organized by the HCMC-based NGO Poussières de Vie, and all proceeds will be donated to charity.
On May 12 Kaas auctioned souvenirs at a gala dinner at the Sofitel Saigon Plaza Hotel to raise funds for Poussières de Vie’s charitable activities.
