A film crew from the French television station TV5 is in Viet Nam to film the first episode of a series on the culinary specialties of several nations.
The series, called “Scent and Sea”, will also take in India, Japan, Brazil, Chile and Madagascar before concluding in France.

Accompanying the French crew is the three-star Michelin chef Olivier Roellinger, who arrived on Thursday for the Aroma Festival at the Sofitel Metropole from December 7-12.
It’s the Ha Noi hotel’s second Aroma Festival, a culinary event that’s all to do with the world of herbs and scents.
Chef Olivier says he is very keen to discover the aromas of Vietnamese food and is particularly interested in fish sausage.
Among the features of the Aroma Festival are a “New Herbs” presentation and a tasting of the latest creations that blend herbs and white wine, courtesy of consulting chef Didier Corlou
There is also a “Chocolate Gala” dinner with a menu of chocolates and herbs and a presentation on “Cancale Oysters” by Mr. Roellinger.
Today and tomorrow, Didier Corlou and fellow chef Pascal Pochon will be at L’Espace to talk about the aromas of food to an audience of young Vietnamese people who are studying at the French cultural center.
