The 1000th anniversary of the founding of Thang Long – Ha Noi on October 10, 2010, will be a cultural extravaganza, Deputy PM Nguyen Sinh Hung, head of a committee set up to organize the event, has promised.

The grand occasion, marking a national legacy, would be celebrated in the capital as well as around the country, he said.
Vice chairwoman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee, Ngo Thi Thanh Hang, many cultural events, including music, photography, and films, have been lined up. There would be a contest for the logo for the 1000th anniversary and a writing competition titled “Ha Noi in my heart”, she said.
Around 70 structures are being built for the celebrations, she added.
Mr. Hung has asked Ha Noi to ensure they, especially those at the Thang Long Royal Citadel archaeological site and the National Assembly building, are finished in time.
Statues of the late Presidents Ho Chi Minh and President Ton Duc Thang will be erected in Ho Chi Minh City.
Phat Tich Pagoda in Bac Ninh Province will be restored, as will others in cities and provinces around the country, including in Hue, Can Tho, Phu Tho, and Ninh Binh.
