Hanoi Ao Dai Festival 2016 opens

A festival featuring hundreds of Ao dai (Vietnamese traditional dresses) designed by 32 well-known designers opened at  the Thang Long Imperial Citadel in Hanoi on October 14.

Attending the event was Chairwoman of National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

The Ao dai festival titled “The Quintessence of Vietnamese Ao Dai” marks the 62nd anniversary of the capital liberation (October 10th, 1954) and the 86th founding anniversary of Vietnamese Women’s Association and Vietnamese Women’s Day (October 20).

A series of activities marking the celebration has been also launched, such as exhibitions and seminars on preserving the Ao dai’s traditional values , art programs, tourism festival and more.

A concert themed Ha Noi, Niem Tin va Hy Vong (Ha Noi, Belief and Hope) will take place at Cach Mang Thang Tam (the August Revolutionary) Square and at King Ly Thai To Munument in Van Mieu (Temple of Literature).

The festival will run until October 16.
