Last few years, Valentine’s Day on February 14 has often coincided with the Tet Lunar New Year holidays, which resulted in many art and entertainment activities overlapping with each other.
However, this year Valentine’s Day will falls at an ideal time when the city will be holding many art and theatre performances.
On the evening of Feb 14, the Ho Chi Minh Grande theatre will perform the comedy “Nhung Truyen Tinh Treo Cang Ngong” (Odds in Love) with a star cast that includes famous actors and actresses Kieu Oanh, Le Huyenh, Anh Tuan, Mai Dung, Ha Linh, Diem Trinh and My Dung.
On this special day, the theatre will offer free tickets to the first 100 female audiences who come forward to buy tickets priced at VND500,000.
Also part of the celebrations on Valentine’s Day, couples going to the Hoang Thai Thanh Theatre on Feb. 14 will have an opportunity to enjoy the play “Thu Yeu Lan Nua” (Let’s Try another Love).
Couples can watch the plays “Dai Sui Gia” “Hai Dam Cuoi” (Two marriages) in Phu Nhuan Theatre and play “Thu Sau Ngay Muoi Ba” on Friday 13, at the Super bowl theatre.
Dam Sen Cultural Park will hold colourful shows for love duos and audiences with a romantic Valentine’s night with hits like “Romantic Valentine”, at VND 180,000 for two tickets.
Also in Dam Sen, couples can join in fun games like “Lovers’ Street”, “Nhu Yeu Lan Dau” (Love Like The First Time), “Love Flower Street”, or enjoy a comedy concert titled “Giai Ma Tinh Yeu” (Decoding Love) performed by Minh Beo, Thanh Van, Tiet Cuong, Cat Phuong, Huu Nghia and Le Quoc Nam . Also that night, famous singers Dan Truong and Thanh Thao will sing love songs to audiences.
The Phuong Nam Café bookstore will present roses and heart-shaped chocolates on February 14. And furthermore, after the duet performances, lovers can compete for the prize of ‘most impressive couple’.
Around 24 local singers will perform in the concert titled “Dem Valentine The Ky” (The Century’s Valentine Night) on February 13 in District 7 in HCMC, organised by MTV Vietnam and Close Up. The event has drawn many artists including Ho Ngoc Ha, My Tam, Dam Vinh Hung, Uyen Linh, Thu Minh, and Van Mai Huong. At the event, 100 participating couples will kiss to set a record.
The event will take place at the Crescent Mall at 107 Ton Dat Tien in Phu My Hung.
On the evening of Valentine’s Day, another concert by singers Le Khanh, Pham Van Mach, Doan Trang, Lam Truong, V.Music band, Le Quyen and Duong Trieu Vu will also be organised in District 3.
Titled “Valentine’s Day-Concert for Couples”, the event will take place at Lan Anh Stage at 291 Cach Mang Thang 8 Street and will be broadcast live on YanTV.
Also on Valentine’s Day, couples going to Galaxy Nguyen Du, Nguyen Trai and Tan Binh cinemas will have an opportunity to take part in a game called “Choose posters, win combo.” A couple will take two posters from two different boxes. If the posters match, the couple will win a beverage and popcorn combo.
Adding to the exciting atmosphere of Valentine’s Day celebrations around the world, Vietnamese people will mark the holiday with many musical concerts in the capital city of Hanoi.
Well-known duo Ha Anh Tuan and Phuong Linh will give audiences a romantic Valentine’s night with hits like “Thien Duong Goi Ten” (Heaven is calling), “Con Mua Tinh Yeu” (The Love Rain), “Nhu Yeu Lan Dau” (Love Like The First Time), “Giac Mo Anh Va Em” (The Dream of Us) at a concert titled “Ngay Chung Doi” (The Day We’re Together).
The show, to be held by musician Huy Tuan and Brothers Band, will also feature the voice of the 2010 Vietnam Idol runner-up Van Mai Huong along with Thanh Bui, one of the eight finalists of the 2008 Australian Idol, in duet performances of sweet love songs “Beauty and the Beast,” “Tonight I celebrate my love for you,” and “Quando Quando.”
Renowned singers like My Tam, Uyen Linh, Tan Minh and Khac Viet will perform at a show titled “Cam On Tinh Yeu” (Say Thanks To Love) on February 14 at the Palace of Culture and Vietnam-Soviet Friendship at 91 Tran Hung Dao Street in Hoan Kiem District in Hanoi.
