The Climate Action Festival titled “Power up” will take place at Cargo Event Space in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 4 on November 25.
The event is co-organized by the Center of Hands-on Actions and Networking for Growth and Environment-CHANGE; and the global climate movement. 350.org Vietnam.
The festival aims to respond the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP 21. It is the 21st Conference of the Parties, the annual meeting of all countries which want to take action for the climate. The event will be held in Paris, from November 30 to December 11.
The program is expected to raise the awareness of young people, local and foreign businesses about climate change impacts, energy and environmental protection.
The event will be divided into four areas, including Fossil fuel, Recreate energy, Art and Cinema.
Visitors will have a chance to take part in a free portrait session, interesting games, and an environmental fingerprinting.
There will be an exchange with Nguyen Vo Nghiem Minh Nuoc, director of the movie Nuoc (Water) 2030 that won the best feature film award at the San Pedro International Film Festival in the US.
The film based on the novella Nuoc Nhu Nuoc Mat (Water that Looks like Tears) by writer Nguyen Ngoc Tu is set in 2030, when half of southern Vietnam has been submerged under seawater because of climate change so people harvest crops on floating farms.
More than 20 popular artists will join the event, such as Thanh Bui, Ha Okio, Pham Anh Khoa, Uyen Linh, Tien Tien, Vu Cat Tuong and more.
All participants and artists will take a picture calling on the countries to reduce exhaust fumes caused greenhouse effect; cutting down fossil-fuel investments and intensifying investment in renewable energy.
