HCMC to Have Museum of Natural History

The Vietnamese Ethnic Minorities' Cultural Park in District 9.

The People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations held a seminar today to discuss their plans for building a natural history museum in the city starting next year.

The museum and grounds will take up 30 hectares of the Vietnamese Ethnic Minorities’ Cultural Park in District 9 and house more than five million objects and documents displayed over 9,000 square meters.

Nearly US$50 million will be needed for the 2007-2013 first stage, which will be 80% funded by international organizations and 20% by the city.

Compensating and relocating the affected households in the area zoned for the park should be finished by the end of December.
