Ho Chi Minh City is to host humungous celebrations welcoming in the 2008 solar New Year over December 28 to January 1 at April-30 Park in District 1, announced the HCMC People’s Committee.

Various open-air activities will be divided into four areas. Sector A is to house events themed “Young City”, folk games, performances of music, puppet shows and historical storytelling.
Sector B is to be “Peaceful City”, consisting of exhibitions of sculptures, ornamental plants, bonsais, rock-gardens and on and on.
Sector C, themed “Modern City”, is to introduce the city's development and socio-economic achievements as well as new building projects, like office buildings and apartments blocks, to local and foreign investors.
Buffets presenting hundreds of Vietnamese dishes are to be held in Sector D, “Tourism and Cuisine Cultural City”.
And yet another poll is to be held calling on people to vote for Ha Long Bay as a new natural wonder. (Go to http://halong.tuoitre.com.vn)
Thrills and spills to welcome new solar year are also to take place in the city’s suburbs, including the Phu My Hung Urbanite Zone and Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone in District 7, the Linh Trung Export Processing Zone in Thu Duc District, Binh Chanh District’s Industrial Zone, the Tan Binh Industrial Park, District 12’s Cultural Center and, of course, Go Vap District’s Gia Dinh Park, and more, more, more, from December 31 to January 1.
