Ho Chi Minh City hosts Dance Festival 2011

The 3rd Ho Chi Minh City Dance Festival 2011 will take place at the Municipal Dance School on August 19-22.

Hundreds of dancers from theaters, dance schools, art troupes of the city and from neighboring provinces of Tien Giang, Binh Phuoc, Dak Lak and Gia Lai will join the event.

The dance festival aims to celebrate the 66th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2).

Every performance of contemporary and traditional music will honor Vietnam and the Vietnamese people, and reflect Vietnam’s significance in the global context.

The organizers expect to find new talent and will be requesting the government to make the annual Ho Chi Minh City Dance Festival into a national event.

The jury members include People’s Artist Dang Hung, chairman of the HCM City Dancers Association and veteran dancers and teachers such as Thuy Minh, Vinh Hien, To Nguyet Nga and choreographer Phuong Lich.
