Nearly 800 participants are expected to take part in activities including performances and a “walking street”.

The city’s first time celebrating the event was in 2009.

Citizens are encouraged to turn off all lights and appliances during the hour. The aim of this event is to raise awareness of energy conservation and climate-change issues.
Earth Hour is a global event organized by World Wide Fund for Nature. It occurs the last Saturday of March annually.

Danish Ambassador John Nielsen, Miss Vietnam 2008 contestant Nguyen Thuy Van, and singer Bao Tram will be representing the campaign this year.
