Bunraku is the traditional puppet theater of Japan. Puppetry came to Japan in the 11th century from Central Asia. Bunraku style puppetry was created in the 17th century in the city of Osaka. Bunraku is a comprehensive art form that incorporates story-telling, music, song, and the manipulation of puppets. A puppet is operated by three puppeteers.

Bunraku often depicts stories based on historical events in feudal society and contemporary stories telling conflicts between social obligations and human emotions.

The performance will be also organized at the Youth Theater in Hanoi on July 14.
