Soc Trang and Tra Vinh Provinces were in second and third places.
This year’s competition, part of a Khmer ethnic festival of culture, sports and tourism held from December 5 to 8, attracted 13 men’s and women’s teams from Mekong Delta provinces and cities.
The race included four categories: 1,200m and 800m for men and 1,000m and 600 m for women.
More than 2,000 participants from various ethnic groups in the delta, Binh Phuoc Province, Ho Chi Minh City, and its neighboring province of Tay Ninh took part in the festival.
Besides the boat race, traditionally the highlight of Khmer festivals, it also featured traditional music and costume shows, folk games, festive rituals, and a food fair.
