Korean Orchestra to Perform Traditional Music for APEC Summit

A 40-strong traditional music orchestra from South Korea will take the stage of the Ha Noi Opera House on November 3 in a concert with diva Thanh Lam to salute the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.

The South Korean Embassy describes what will be the concert’s opening number, “Shinnaerim”, as a wish for success sent to the APEC summit.

The embassy expects the concert will intensify the exchange of culture and fine arts between the two countries, and says a Korean cultural center will be opened in the coming time to bring the people of the two countries closer together.

Established in 1995, the South Korean orchestra has improved traditional musical instruments and performing skills and broken the barriers of music among generations and countries, and has made outstanding contributions to the development of the national traditional music in East Asia.

The concert’s promoters are Viet Nam’s Ministry of Culture and Information, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and the South Korean Embassy in Viet Nam.

A hundred free tickets for the November 3 concert are available at www.hanquocngaynay.com
