Mekong Delta contestant wins the 11th Cai Luong Singing Contest

Nguyen Ho Nhu Tuyet Nhung from the Mekong Delta Province of An Giang won the 2016 Cai Luong Singing Contest called Chuong Vang (Golden Bell) Vong Co which ended at Ho Chi Minh City Television Theater on September 22.

Trinh Thi Ngoc Huyen from the Mekong Delta Province of Tra Vinh earned the Silver Bell Award and the Jury Choice Award. The Bronze Bell Award and Audience Choice Award went to Nguyen Thi Ngoc Chau of Ho Chi Minh City.

Launched three months ago, the 11th Cai Luong Song Contest which was organized by Ho Chi Minh City Television attracted around 300 contestants nationwide.

The jury narrowed down from hundreds of contestants to just 12 in the final round which took place at the HTV Theater in HCMC on Thursday.

Besides discovering young talent, the annual competition also aims at keeping alive the tradition of Cai Luong and fostering a love for folk opera among young people.
