Mozart's ‘The Magic Flute’ performs in city

The opera ‘The Magic Flute’, one of three most famous works by Mozart, the greatest musical prodigy in history of world music, will be presented to music lovers at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House on November 8-9.

The performance of Complete Opera which is supported by the Norway’s Transposition Project is expected to attract audiences with music, costumes, stage design, acting, and choreography.

The three year project called Transposition has assisted Vietnamese conservatories and orchestras with instruments, materials, education and management and promoted local music to the world.

The show will be performed by Norwegian opera singers including tenor Magnus Staveland, baritone Halvor F. Melien, bassist  Derek Anthony, conductor Magnus Loddgard.

Artists from the Ho Chi Minh City Ballet and Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO), such as Thanh Nga, Tran Duy Linh, Cho Hae Ryong, Thu Huong,Thanh Huyen, and Dao To Loan from Hanoi will also join in the performance

‘The Magic Flute’ was premiered in Vienna and conducted by Mozart in 1791. It tells a love story between Prince Tamino and Princess Pamina, good and evil, passion and will.

Since its premiere, ‘The Magic Flute’ has always been one of the most beloved works in the operatic repertoire, and is presently the fourth most frequently performed opera worldwide.
