Newspapers Must Actively Contribute to Country’s Development: Minister of Culture and Information

Member of the Party Central Committee cum Minister of Culture and Information Le Doan Hop worked Friday with the Ho Chi Minh People’s Committee on the issues of culture and information in the locality.

The minister suggested that the city’s leaders should pay attention to the issues of cultured families’ content, life style, museums, and key personnel as well as create a favorable condition for writers and artists to work in it.

In addition, they ought to foster a traditional and modern culture.

In the afternoon of the same day, the minister acknowledged the contribution of newspapers and media in the country’s career and development in the meeting with the leaders of mass media in Ho Chi Minh.

However, the minister emphasized newspapers need to better the task to adapt the requirement of the new period.

Later, Mr. Hop together with Mr. Phan Xuan Bien, Head of the Culture and Ideology Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Communist Party, paid a visit to Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper.

Editor-in-Chief Duong Trong Dat reported the newspapers’ operations and future development.

The minister recalled happy memories he had with the newspaper after the Liberation Day April 30, 1975 and affirmed that the ministry will facilitate the newspapers of the Party in gerneral and Sai Gon Giai Phong in paticular to develop.
