|Cannone balls discovered in an embankment along the An Cuu River in the central city of Hue|
While constructing an embankment along the An Cuu River in the central city of Hue, workers dug up 52 cannon balls believed to be from the time of the Nguyen Dynasty.
The City Police have temporarily seized all the cannon balls. Forty-three of them weigh 20 kgs each and the rest are smaller weighing 5 kgs.
According to Nguyen Phuoc Hai Trung, director of Hue Royal Fine Arts Museum, it is hard to pin down the exact age of the cannon balls though it can be said that these belonged to the Nguyen Dynasty rulers as they once used the river as munitions dump.
The Nguyen kings ruled from 1802 until the end of the feudal system in 1945.
