Viet Nam’s Ministry of Posts and Telematics has issued a stamp to commemorate Léopold Sédar Senghor, Senegalese poet and politician on the occasion of his 100th birthday.
Léopold Sédar Senghor (October 9, 1906 – December 20, 2001) was a Senegalese poet and politician who served as the first president of Senegal (1960–1980). He also started his own party, called the Senegalese Democratic Bloc and was one of people who created La Francophonie, association of French speaking countries. .
The stamp’s size is 43x32 millimeters and has a value of VND 800. From March 20, 2006, it will be available at all postal offices nationwide.
