Tay Ethnic Member Wins Miss Viet Nam Ethnicities 2007

Nguyen Thi Hoang Nhung of the Tay ethnic group from northern Viet Nam's Thai Nguyen province, a third-year student at the Ha Noi Culture University was crowned Miss Viet Nam Ethnicities 2007 yesterday evening.

Second runner-up H'Ro Ni Buon Ya (L), Miss Viet Nam Ethnicities 2007 Nguyen Thi Hoang Nhung (C) and first runner-up Truong Thi May.

Nhung will take home a cash prize of VND100 million (more than US$6,000) and an overseas scholarship worth US$7,000.

“I am so glad to be Miss Viet Nam Ethnicities 2007. I will share a part of my prize to support disadvantaged children and the elderly in remote areas”, Nhung told the press.

The first runner-up is Truong Thi May of Khmer group from the Mekong Delta Province of An Giang and the second runner-up H’Ro Ni Buon Ya of Ede group in the Central Highland Province of Dak Lak.

May will receive a cash prize of VND30 million (US$1,850) and an overseas scholarship worth US$3,000, while H’Ro Ni Buon Ya VND20 million (US$1,230) and a US$3,000 overseas scholarship.

Other titles including Miss Tourism, Miss Highlands, Miss Talent and Miss Friendly went respectively to Tran Thi Kim Hoa of Kinh group, Kra Jan Jut Jui of K’Ho , Hoang Thu Thao of Nung and Lam Bao Tran of Hoa.

The organizer also awarded ten titles named after the most beautiful flowers of Da Lat to ten beauties.

There were 47 candidates competing in several categories in the final round last night including traditional costume, evening dress, sportswear and interview.
