Vietnamese artist honored at Int’l Design Awards

Artist Nguyen Thu Thuy and her colleagues of the New Hanoi Art Company won the bronze medal at the 10th International Design Awards (IDA) in the US for their mural painting at Da Nang International Airport.

The painting titled “Tropical garden” covers a pillar which is 7.4m in height and 6.4m in diameter with bright images of plants and flowers. The art work aims to mark the 2017 APEC Economic Leaders' Week which will take place in Da Nang from November 6 - 11 with the participation of leaders from 21 member-economies.

Painter Nguyen Thu Thuy also received a consolation prize for her “Love heart for Hanoi” sculpture.

In 2015, the Vietnamese artist was awarded the Honorable Mention Prize in the Other Products Designs Competition of the 8th International Design Awards (IDA) for the “Hanoi Lotus Fountain” Project.

The IDA, established in 2007, is held annually in Los Angeles, USA, with the aim of recognizing, honouring and promoting legendary design visionaries and uncovering emerging talents in architecture, interior, product, graphic and fashion design on a global level.

The award ceremony of the International Design Awards 2017 is expected to be held in June, in the U.S.
