Vietnamese contestant wins Miss World `People’s Choice’ award

Vietnamese contestant Duong Truong Thien Ly won the Miss People’s Choice title in this year’s Miss World pageant, organizers announced on December 16, three days after the grand finale was held in South Africa.

A few hours before the finale in Johannesburg on December 13, website said it would annul the Miss People’s Choice award because people in some countries could not access the website to vote for their favorite contestants.

However, yesterday the organization decided to announce the title was going to the Vietnamese contestant.

Thien Ly arrived back in Ho Chi Minh City yesterday afternoon, surprised and happy to receive the award.

As well as taking out the Miss People’s Choice title, the Vietnamese beauty also received a rhino statue for the contestant with the longest golf drive (around 360 meters).
