Vietnamese students scoop int’l piano contests in the U.S.

A team of 7 Vietnamese students of the Vietnam's National Academy of Music aged 9-18 won 25 prizes at two piano competitions in the US from July 30-August 5.

The delegation was led by People’s Artist Tran Thu Ha, director of the Vietnam's National Academy of Music.

At the 2016 Lansum International Music Festival in Los Angeles on July 25-31, students received 22 prizes, including 6 first prizes, 7 second prizes, 5 third prizes, 4 encouragement prizes.  Students Tran Minh Chau, Truong Thi Ngan Ha and Phan Thien Bach Anh who won prizes in all categories they participated were selected for a performance in the award ceremony.

This year’s annual contest attracted more than 100 contestants from the U.S., Vietnam and China.

Vietnamese students also won one third prize and two encouragement prizes at the 5th Los Angeles Young Musicians International Competition on August 2 – 8 in Los Angeles, California.

The contest drew 106 contestants from the U.S., Vietnam, China, Canada, Russia, Belarus and France.
