Vietnamese-Australian Guitarist to Perform At Home

Vietnamese-Australian classical guitarist Le Hoang Minh returns home to perform in a concert entitled “Le Hoang Minh and Friends” at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music tonight.

Minh will play masterpieces by famous composers including Italy’s Domenico Scarlatti, Castelnouvo, Giulio Regondi, Japan’s Toru Takemitsu and more together with local guitarists Cao Hong Ha and Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao.

Money raised from the show will be donated to the fund supporting young talented guitarists of the HCMC Conservatory of Music.

Le Hoang Minh was born in 1978 and began playing music at the age of nine, while living in Viet Nam. He then moved to Australia with his family in 1991 and studied at the Canberra School of Music, Australian National University under the supervision of leading Australian guitarist Timothy Kain.

After graduating with flying colors, Minh continued to undertake postgraduate studies and completed a Master course.

He joined the Guitar Trek band in October 1999 and won many international prizes such as first prize at the Adelaide Spring Guitar Competition in 2001 and the 50th Tokyo International Guitar Competition 2007.

Tickets for the show ranging from VND150, 000 to VND200, 000 are available at the HCMC Conservatory of Music on Nguyen Du Street, District 1.
