VN’s “Pao’s Story” Goes to Yangon for ASEAN Film Festival

The first ASEAN film festival opened yesterday in Myanmar’s largest city, Yangon, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 10-nation regional grouping.

The festival is to show seven films, including “Pao’s Story” from Viet Nam, Myanmar's "Mystery of Snow," Thailand’s Tin mine”, Malaysia’s “Cinta”, Philippines’ “Magnifico”, Singapore’s “I Not ‘tupid” and Indonesia’s “Denias”.

Chuyen Cua Pao (Pao’s Story), directed by Quang Hai, won a Golden Kite award at Viet Nam’s national film festival in 2005 and was presented at the 16th Fukuoka International Film Festival in Japan last year.

The film was also selected as “Best Foreign Language Film of the Year” at the 2007 Oscars in February this year.

The ASEAN film festival is taking place over December 6-9 at the Tamada Cinema.
