This is the 10th Prudential Good Essay, Good Writing Contest held in the Mekong Delta Region. In the final round of the contest this year, the organizers selected 40 of the best students to honor with prizes.
Nguyen Au Doan Trang from Le Ngoc Han Secondary School in Tien Giang Province won the first prize in the 6th-7th grade student category. Trang shared her childhood memories in her essay which touched the judges.
Tran My Tien from Le Ngoc Han Secondary School in Tien Giang Province won the first prize in the 8th-9th grade student category. Tien shared that she was very impressed with her exam topic which asked the students to describe the resilience of the Vietnamese people in face of destruction by storms and floods.
At the awards ceremony, Tran Thanh Duc, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Tien Giang Province, congratulated the best students in the contest. He said that the organizers had judged the excellent abilities of each student in selecting the best essays in the contest.
On behalf of the organizers, Deputy Editor-in-Chief Ly Viet Trung stressed that the annual Prudential Good Essay, Good Writing Contest has been organized for the past 14 years and is always received with positive emotions, support and encouragement from teachers, students and press.
Accordingly, the numbers of students participating in the contest have increased to nearly 20,000. This year the contest attracted participation of more than 500,000 students, including 300,000 students from the Mekong Delta Region.
Earlier on November 30, the Department of Education and Training in Tien Giang Province hosted the Prudential Good Essay, Good Writing Contest in 13 provinces of the Mekong Delta Region. During the contest, many interesting activities also took place such as camp fires and exchanges with contestants.
The organizers and sponsors also awarded scholarships to poor students in Tien Giang Province who have made good achievements in learning.
