The Education Sector Labor Union in Ho Chi Minh City said that it will offer support to poor teachers by way of money and gifts so that they are able to enjoy a joyous and festive Tet Lunar New Year with their families.
The union will organize activities next week to raise funds for around 1,000 teachers working in suburban districts such as district 9, Can Gio, Nha Be, Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon and Cu Chi Districts. Teachers will receive gifts worth VND300,000 each from educational institutes in HCMC.
In addition, the union will present VND10-20 million to teachers who are suffering from incurable diseases; and gifts worth VND5 million to retired and needy teachers.
In related news, Hoa Mi Pre-school in District 5 has just organized a festival themed “Charitable Spring”, for all students and their parents to participate in and help raise funds to support disadvantaged children.
Through activities such as cooking dishes to sell and fun games, the organizers have so far collected VND57 million (US$2,700).
The amount will be given to poor kids who are being treated at the Tumor Hospital; those living in Linh Xuan Centre for Child Care in Thu Duc District of HCMC; and for construction of a charitable house in Ward 13 of District 5.
