Education Ministry expands inspection of national high school examination

Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha yesterday decided to set up two mission teams to clarify the abnormal phenomenon of the national high school examination results in the northern mountainous provinces of Son La and Lang Son after the revelation of Ha Giang province’s exam cheating scandal.

The mission teams comprise staffs of the Vietnam National Academic Recognition Information Center, inspectors from the Ministry and police officers from the Department of Internal Political Security (A83) under the Ministry of Public Security arrived in the two province this morning.
In Son La province, people are surprised at high average scores for the national exam’s maths and physics posted in social network. Many candidates have 8, 9 scores for maths, literature and history while history and literature subjects were said to be hard this year.
Accordingly, the steering board for the national examination plans to investigate  35 test-takers who achieved high points and above for maths, history and literature tests.
Also, inspectors from the education sector are investigating 15 students with high marks in Lang Son province; one of them have 10 scores for English and history each while their scores in the mock exam before in the school were relatively low.
Additionally, experts discovered abnormally high scores of Maths and Physics in Son La Province. 30 students in the province have 9 scores for Maths accounting for 0.3 percent while the rates of the marks in big cities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and the northern province of Nam DInh were 0.04, 0.1 and 0.06. 13 students in Son La have 9 marks up for physics accounting for 0.97 percent out of 1,340 exam participants whereas only 39 students in Ho Chi Minh City achieved 9 marks for the subject out of 49,680 participants.
