The government will build the Hanoi University of Sciences and Technology at Hoa Lac High-tech Park in 2009 at a cost of US$100 million.

It will be one of four universities the government will run with assistance from foreign partners.

Its construction is expected to be finished by 2012 when it will open at least three faculties. That will increase to at least seven by 2016.

The school hopes to become one of the top 200 in the world by 2020.

The Vietnamese Academy of Science and Technology and the Vietnamese National University, Hanoi, will set up laboratories while the syllabus, faculty, and managerial staff will be provided by the foreign partners.
