Gov't provide boats to take students to schools in flood season

Flood waters that have devastated many places kept rising causing difficulties for travelling to schools; accordingly, authorities in Mekong delta provinces have provided boats to take and pick up students gratis.

These days, flood water continued to rise, Vinh Hoi Dong, Phu Hoi, Phu Huu communes are badly inundated causing travel disruption.
Officials said that floodwater level in communes is one meter higher than the same period last year. therefore, for teachers and students’ safety on the way to schools, relevant agencies and unions in An Phu District have provided boats to take and pick up students during flood season, said Deputy chairman of An Phu People’s Committee Le Minh Thuan.
Initially, boats with life jackets and vehicles will take and pick up around 1,000 students of 13 schools.
Vice principal of Vinh Hoi Dong Primary school teacher Ha Minh Phuong said that thanks to support of local administrations and benefactors, 155 students of the school can go to school safely.
In addition to picking up students to schools safely, An Phu authority organized seven facilities to keep 278 kids.
Likewise, flooded roads have seen in Dong Thap province at the heart of the Mekong Delta in these days. Giong Duoi and Giong Bang villages in Hong Ngu District are isolated by flood waters. As per the direction of People’s Committee of Hong Ngu District, local government in the two villages have provided boats and vehicles to take and pick up students safely.
