Ho Chi Minh City education sector is striving to green schools and several schools in Binh Chanh District have pioneered to pilot it in the academic year 2018-2019.

Schools are small in areas and can create an environment full of vitality by using small plants. The extensive planting of trees and flowers in schools will directly benefit the schools as well as the teachers and students in many aspects.
Accordingly, it is scheduled the school year 2019-2020, greening schools will be adopted in district 9, 12, Can Gio and Nha Be.
3,600-sq.m play yard of Hoa Anh Dao Preschool in Tan Nhut Commune of Binh Chanh District is a lawn with slide, sand playground, flower garden and an area for growing fruits. Teacher Nguyen Kim Ngan said that preschoolers take turn to play freely in the yard.
School headmistress Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huong said that half of construction expenditure of the play yard is taken from the state budget and contribution of parents. Moreover, teachers skillfully turned out used items such as plastic water bottles, ropes and sacks donated by parents into toys and games for kids.
Meanwhile, Hoa Phuong Hong Preschool in Vinh Loc A Commune organize traditional games such as tug of war, bamboo pole dancing, hopscotch in grass play yard. Additionally, the school also design a small area for growing vegetables, fruits and a small pond to catch fish.
Lately, many primary school managers have experimented to grow fresh veggie in terrace to educate kids how to plant veggie and treasure their own fruits of labor and others’.
Primary schoolers of Nguyen Binh Khiem school in district 1 and Nguyen Van Troi school in district 4 are taught growing techniques and knowledge.
Before, the municipal Department of Education and Training used to petition the Ministry to add green school standard in one of standards to value schools.
At presently, the country is going to have new curriculum with goal of developing students’ competence and virtue, greening school model should be extended.
However, under the overpopulation pressure, schools in the city are planning to build more classrooms and converting play yard into classrooms; therefore, social contributions of enterprises, unions and parent association are important to maintain the model of greening schools.
