HCMC expects to add vocational training in curricula for disable students

For the academic year, Ho Chi Minh City petitioned the Ministry of Education and Training to add vocational training and life skill education, gender education into curricula for students with disabilities.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training yesterday held a meeting to review the old academic year and implement tasks for the new school year for special students.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy of management board for disadvantaged and disable students Mai Phuong Lien said that the city is waiting the new policies for bonus and salary of teachers who are teaching and taking care of disable students.
Currently, some local administrations are confused at certifying disabilities leading to wrong certification of disability types.
Moreover, just a few trained teachers and managers are teaching special students failing to meet increasing demand.
Worse, teachers in special schools have lately quit job and transferred to other work while there has been a surge in the number of special students creating high pressure on the education sector.
Additionally, HCMC expects the Ministry of Education and Training to issue special treatment to administrative staffs in such school to keep them at job.
