HCMC hails 618 outstanding students

The HCMC People’s Committee yesterday organized a meeting to hail 618 outstanding students in the academic year 2018-2019.

Speaking at the event, Director of the municipal Department of Education and Training Le Hong Son said in the school year, four primary students won gold medals from the international applied science competition.
Moreover, 119 students captured the national good prize and 49 others won prizes from national technology competitions in the South held by the Ministry of Education and Training.
Some 3,890 schoolers got prizes from city-level competitions. Especially, students in the city have good score in the national graduation examination.
Appraising the city’s education sector in reforming teaching and learning, deputy Education Minister Nguyen Huu Do said that the sector renovation will focus on learners’ ability development and ethic and its curriculum changes aim to meet labor market.
As said by Standing Deputy Chairman of People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem, city authorities have poured more investment in education as a way to invest in the city’s development. He emphasized that gains the city has achieved for years thanks to teachers’ dedication and students’ efforts in study.
He added that presently, the Party, the government and city dwellers are intensifying completion of the Party’s resolution as well as review results of seven breakthrough program implementation comprising human resource improvement.
Additionally, Mr. Liem asked the education sector to pour more investment in building national-level schools as a base for training high-qualified personnel.
