HCMC People’s Committee approves tuition remission for junior highschoolers

Junior high school students in Ho Chi Minh City are eligible for tuition fee remission after the city authorities approved the plan to remit tuition fee.

Following the proposal of the Department of Education and Training and the Department of Finance, People’s Committee in yesterday gave the green light to reduce tuition fee for junior high school students.
Accordingly, students in secondary schools just pay VND60,000 instead of VND100,000 enjoying a reduction of VND40,000 ($1.7) a month. For those in outlying suburbs including districts Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon, Cu Chi, Can Gio and Nha Be, they just pay VND30,000 per month for tuition fee.
The People’s Committee will submit to People’s Council at the session in December. If approved, it will be applied in January, 2019.
To remit tuition fee, the authorities will take VND150 billion from the city budget to subsidize per academic year.
