Last time, many students and children drowned in many localities across the country; especially heart-breaking deaths of nine students on April 15 in Tra Khuc River in Nghia Hanh Commune of the central province of Quang Ngai.

To actively prevent such pitiful deaths of students and children in the upcoming summer season, the Ministry ordered the departments in coordination with media organizations to increase information and disseminate prevention measures of drowning accident.

Schools should organize swimming classes as a mandatory subject or extra-activity.

School managers have to liaise with locality authority to build swimming pools in schools to teach students swimming skills.
