Today and Friday, the students take tests in mathematics, a foreign language, physics and history. Students can choose one among English, Russian, French, Chinese, German and Japanese as a foreign language. Those not studying a foreign language over three years have to complete a chemistry exam instead.

In case of initial failure, students have another chance by taking a second exam later this summer.

“If students fail two times, it is better for them to take a vocational training course. The most important thing is that students know their ability before deciding on their path,” Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thien Nhan was quoted by daily Viet Nam News as saying.

The first day of examination took place with few violations or testing errors.

An inspection team led by Deputy PM and Education Minister Nhan randomly checked the organizing of the exam in the northern provinces of Bac Ninh, Hai Duong, Thai Nguyen and Hoa Binh.

In HCMC, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thu Ha attended the opening ceremony of the graduation exam at Le Hong Phong High School.
