In a meeting with the committee in Ha Noi on Wednesday on the occasion of the Viet Nam Teachers’ Day, November 20, President Triet said associate professors and professors must be teachers at a certain university or college.

A report by the committee shows that the numbers of associate professors and professors at educational institutions are still low. There are about five associate professors and professors among 100 lecturers at a university or institute; and about 1.6 associate professors and professors for 1,000 higher education students. The report also points out improper treatments for associate professors and professors.

More than 7,000 Vietnamese have received associate professor and professor titles in the country over the past 20 years.
