SGGP newspaper gives scholarships to poor students

Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper offered 60 scholarships to disadvantaged students in the southern province of Tay Ninh and Vinh Long on January 15.

Delegation from SGGP and the department of Information and Communications offered 40 scholarships each worth VND500,000 (US$ 23.4) to disadvantaged students in Duong Minh Chau and Ben Cau districts of Tay Ninh province yesterday.

Today, the newspaper in coordination with the Department of Information and Communications in Vinh Long continued granting 20 scholarships to poor but good students of Nguyen Hieu Tu Senior High School in District Vung Liem.

In related news, Deputy Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Ngoc Anh and representatives from southern branch of the Ministry of Defense’s Company  at 20 Cong Hoa Street in HCMC’s Tan Binh District gave VND84 million(US4 3,939) including VND34 million (US$ 1,594) from newspaper readers’ contribution and VND50 million (US$ 2,345) of the company to repair the medical center in Loc Ninh Commune in Dong Hoi Town of the central Province of Quang Binh.

Pham Van Coi, secretary of the Party Committee cum chairman of Loc Ninh People’s Committee said that the medical center serves more that 8,000 local inhabitants, however it was built years ago and being downgraded recently.
