The People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony on November 16 at the Reunification Palace, celebrating the 35th anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day (November 20).

Attending the event were Deputy Standing Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tat Thanh Cang, Head of the Department of Propaganda and Training of the HCMC Party Committee Than Thi Thu, and Vice Chairman of the HCM City People's Committee Huynh Cach Mang.
Speaking at the meeting, Director of the municipal Department of Training and Education Le Hong Son reviewed the tradition of the sector and outstanding achievements and contribution of generations of teachers to the education and training sector as well as honoring typical teachers, including Nguyen Tat Thanh, Chu Van An, Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Vo Nguyen Giap who have a lot of respect from generations of students .
Vice Chairman of the HCM City People's Committee Huynh Cach Mang praised and congratulated more than 80,000 teachers and teaching staffs of schools in the city.
He asked the Department of Education and Training to focus on completing the project on the development of the city’s education and training sector from now until 2020.
On the occasion, the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City offered certificates of merit and medals to 31 groups and 56 individuals who have outstanding contribution to the city’s education and training sector.
Chairman of the trade union of the HCM City Department of Training and Education, Nguyen Huu Hung was awarded the third-class Labor Medal from State President Tran Dai Quang.
The Ministry of Training and Education also presented the insignia “For the Cause of Education” to 21 individuals who have outstanding contribution to the sector.
