Vietnam ranks 8 of 72 as per PISA

Vietnam has ranked eighth out of 72 countries, territories in the science category of a global test given by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), according to the results OECD released lately, said Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training.

In the match category, Vietnam ranked 22 and reading category the country was listed at 32.

Average score of the participants in OECD’s contest in science category is 493, Vietnamese kids scored 525 points; in the math category, average score of other students in the world is 490, Vietnamese students have score of 495; in the reading category, the participants in the contest have their score of 493 while Vietnamese students have 487 points.

Vietnam making it into the world’s top ten performers; in the science category of a global test also showed Vietnamese students’ competence that they can employ their knowledge in solving puzzles in the contest; especially nearly 10 percent of Vietnamese students with highest score in science test proves that they can handle complicated science and technologies in modern life.

The official took place in April, 2015 with 5,826 Vietnamese participants from 188 schools nationwide. Vietnam firstly participated in the PISA in 2012. The PISA test is composed of open-ended and multiple-choice questions organized in groups based on real-life scenarios for students aged 15.
